Способ получения низкоуглеродистой стали донной продувкой в конвертере полупродукта, выплавл. в дуговой печи или др. металлургич. агрегате, парокислородной смесью, а затем аргоном; разновидность АОД-процесса, хар-ризуется значительно меньшими затратами на газы, огнеупоры и электроэнергию, но большим расходом восстановителей и шлакообраз. материалов. Разработан фирмами «Creosot Loire» (Франция) и «Uddeholm» (Швеция).
В 1980 г. в Швеции на заводе фирмы «Avesta» в г. Дегерфорсе был введен в промышл. эксплуатацию единств. в мире 70-т конвертер, работающий КЛУ-процессом.
